The short answer: yes, but Exact Online and Glimps mean different things by it. Exact Online can post a complete booking proposal without a click, mainly meant for invoices that are the same every month. Glimps goes further: it reads every invoice line, codes it, matches it to your purchase order, and posts by itself for the suppliers you trust. Eight fixed checks stop a posting the moment something is off. At Vitacress Real, 80 to 90% of about 750 invoices a month reach Exact Online this way without manual work.
This guide shows what Exact Online posts automatically on its own, where that stops, and how to let AI post safely without checking every invoice. I checked Exact's features on 18 October 2026 in the Exact knowledge base and on exact.com. The sources are at the bottom.
What Exact Online posts automatically on its own
Exact Online first turns every purchase invoice it receives into a booking proposal. GL account and VAT code come from the most recent postings of the same supplier. When Exact finds nothing there, it looks at recent postings of other suppliers and at suppliers with a similar SBI code.
Under Company name > Settings > Automatic invoice processing you switch on Automatically create entries for complete entry proposals. A complete proposal then becomes an entry without a click. Exact says this helps mainly for invoices you receive every month, and you can also switch it on per supplier.
Exact also uses AI under the name Purchase Agent. According to exact.com it processes purchase invoices automatically and flags unusual amounts. You then post the invoice, in Exact's words, "with one click".
Where it stops
Exact's knowledge base names a few limits that decide how far you can take it:
- Lines become totals. On an invoice with several lines, the proposal shows the totals per VAT amount. To post lines to different GL accounts, Exact says you do that by hand or with an entry template.
- You link purchase orders yourself. Linking a proposal to a purchase order is a manual step.
- Attention needs a person. A proposal with new master data, or an amount far from what that supplier usually invoices, gets a flag. Someone then has to look at it.
- Complete is not the same as correct. Automatic posting happens on a complete proposal. Whether the proposal also matches what was ordered and received is not part of that.
For fixed monthly invoices that works fine. For goods invoices with dozens of lines and a purchase order, you need more before you leave a posting to software.
What AI needs to post safely on its own
Letting an invoice post itself is only responsible when three things hold:
- Every line is read and coded. GL account, VAT, cost centre and project per line, not one total per rate.
- The invoice is checked against something other than itself. A purchase order and a receipt, a contract, or a supplier with a clean track record.
- There is a brake that pulls itself. On a possible duplicate invoice, a changed bank account or a sum that does not add up, the software does not post.
How Glimps posts on its own, within your limits
Glimps is built for exactly those three points. It picks the invoice up, reads the header and every line, even from a supplier you never had before, and proposes GL account, VAT and cost centre per line from your own postings in Exact Online. When Glimps is not sure about a field, it stays empty instead of a guess.
Then Glimps posts along three routes:
- Earned trust. A new supplier always waits for you. Once a supplier has a clean track record, Glimps proposes to let it post by itself. You accept or not. Glimps never raises a level on its own.
- A fully matched purchase order. Invoice, purchase order and receipt match line by line within your tolerances in euro and percent. The spend was already approved at the order.
- An approved contract. Rent, licences and leases from the contract register, checked on amount and period.
One correction on an invoice from a supplier that posted by itself moves that supplier back a step automatically. And eight checks stand apart from everything: a possible duplicate invoice, a duplicate check that is not available, a changed bank account and a sum that does not add up stop the posting. An amount above your limit, a supplier that was quiet for twelve months, a credit note and an unusual currency hold the invoice instead of posting it. Glimps never pays, and never posts while a check is open. Every step is in the audit trail.
In practice: Vitacress Real processes about 750 purchase invoices a month with Glimps, from 317 suppliers. 80 to 90% of them reach Exact Online without manual work, and 98.6% of PO matches are automatic. Read the Vitacress Real story.
How to start
- Connect Exact Online to Glimps. Glimps reads suppliers, GL accounts, VAT codes, cost centres, purchase orders and receipts.
- Let invoices come in for a few weeks. Glimps reads and codes, you still press post.
- Accept the proposals for suppliers with a clean track record, and set your tolerances for purchase orders.
Your first invoice is processed within minutes. Want to look around first? Open the interactive demo or read how automatic posting works in Glimps.
